Description

The drill involves two outfield players/coaches on the edge of the penalty area and a goalkeeper.

The drill starts with the goalkeeper weaving through the dribbling poles (or ladder or cones).

After this, the black player throws a high ball, which the goalkeeper punches away.

After the punch, the goalkeeper quickly moves to save a shot coming from the blue player.

Coaching key points
The goalkeeper must judge the ball's flight path correctly → move early enough, but not too early. Hand and body control in the air → elbows as protection, fists tightly together. The punch is performed actively forward and to the side, not straight up or in front of the goal. Immediate landing and an active step onto the saving line – do not stand still or follow the ball too much with the eyes. Low, balanced stance – weight on the balls of the feet, hands ready.
Progression
Is the goalkeeper positioned correctly in relation to the ball and the goal? Were you ready for the shot immediately after the punch? In which direction did you punch the ball – and why?
