football drill: Goalkeeper Reaction Rotations
© CoachTruly.com
Description

The drill uses three cones placed 4-5 meters apart from each other.

One goalkeeper in the middle and two other players on the sides.

The player on the side throws/kicks a volley to the goalkeeper in the middle, who catches the ball and returns it to the side.

The goalkeeper turns quickly and receives a throw/volley from the other side.

Repeat 10-14 times and switch roles.

Coaching key points
Hands ready and in the correct position: Elbows slightly bent, hands in front of the body – not too low or out to the sides. Don't 'parry' the ball, but catch it in a controlled manner. Quick but controlled turn: Movement is directed immediately to the new direction – no hesitation or excessive footwork.
Progression
Were your hands ready to receive the ball before the catch? Can you maintain a good ready position when turning in both directions?
