Description

The drill involves three attackers, two defenders and a goalkeeper.

Of the attackers, one is in the centre and two are on the wings.

Of the defenders, one is in the centre closer in and one starts from further back deeper down.

The drill starts with a pass from the goalkeeper to one of the attackers.

After this, a 3v2 situation begins, which ends in a turnover or a goal.

Small goals can also be placed on the pitch for the defenders, which they attempt to score into after winning the ball.

Coaching key points
Width and tempo: wingers positioned wide enough, the central player controls the tempo of play. Decision-making: quick assessment – do I carry, pass or finish? Timing: the higher defender presses, the lower one covers → not both at the same time. Communication: who takes the ball carrier, who provides cover? Protecting the centre: force play out wide → harder to break through.
Progression
Attackers: How did you take advantage of the overload? Did you move in a way that created space for each other? Defenders: Which of you applied the press, which one provided cover? Did you succeed in protecting the centre?
