Description

Use an area of about 15 x 20 metres and one goal. Mark a shooting line about ten metres from the goal. Five attackers queue behind the line. One passer and the balls are on the sideline closer to the goal. One goalkeeper is in the goal and two wait beside the goal.

The passer plays a sideline pass to the first attacker in the queue, into the space between the shooting line and the penalty area. The attacker moves onto the ball and tries to beat the goalkeeper and score. He has three seconds from receiving the ball to finish. If the goalkeeper saves the ball back to the attacker, the attacker has two more touches to finish. The situation ends with a goal, the ball going out of play, or the goalkeeper gaining possession of the ball.

Rotation: after every attempt, the next waiting goalkeeper comes into the goal. The goalkeeper who has just made the save goes to the back of the queue of waiting goalkeepers. The attacker collects the ball, brings it back to the passing point and returns to the back of the queue. Change the passer every few attempts. Start a new repetition only when the goalkeeper is ready.

In the second phase of the drill, move one queuing attacker to the other sideline as a second passer. Before starting his run, the attacker shows which side he wants the pass from. The goalkeeper must adjust his positioning according to the direction of the pass.
