Mark out an area of about 20 x 20 metres. Play four against four and add one joker who always plays with the team in possession. One ball is used. The coach starts the game by passing the ball to one of the teams. There are no goals. The teams try to keep possession of the ball.
Every player, including the joker, must take at least two touches. The first touch directs the ball into free space, and the second touch can be used to pass. After a turnover, play continues immediately. If the ball goes out of play, the opponent restarts play with a kick-in from the line. For example, play in rounds of a couple of minutes and change the joker between rounds.
In the second phase of the drill, add goals and goalkeepers outside the area at the ends of the court. After three consecutive passes, the team in possession is allowed to attack using the whole court. After the attack ends, return to the possession game in the central area.
