4v2, Transition to 6v4 After Winning the Ball and Counterpress
© CoachTruly.com- Description
Mark out an area of about 30 x 20 meters with a square of about 5 x 5 meters in the middle. Four players keep possession in the small square against two defenders. The defenders' four teammates wait in the corners of the large area. The coach plays the starting ball to the team of four players.
When either defender wins the ball, they try to pass to a teammate outside the square. If the pass is successful, everyone can use the whole large area. The team of six keeps possession and the team of four tries to win the ball back. The four have about half a minute for this. If the four win the ball, the ball goes out of play or time runs out, the repetition ends.
Rotation: return to the small square and the coach plays a new ball to the four. If a defender wins the ball but loses it before making the pass out, play continues in the small square. Rotate the two square defenders of the team of six every few repetitions. Also rotate players between the four and the six during breaks.
In the second phase of the drill, award a point for a successful series of ten passes. The four can earn a point in the small square and the six in the large area. After a scoring series, play continues with the same rules.
