Description

Divide half of the court crosswise to create the playing area, with the goals located on the sidelines. Both goals have a goalkeeper. Mark out a zone about 10 meters wide in the middle, with an end zone on each side of it. Each team has four outfield players: three deeper and a pivot in front of the opponent's goal.

The pivot stays in the attacking end zone and does not defend. The defending team must keep one player in their own end zone as a marker for the pivot. This allows the team in possession to play with their three deeper players against two pressing defenders. The objective is to pass to the pivot. The pivot shields the ball and lays it off to a supporting player. After the pivot has received the ball, the supporting player may enter the end zone and finish. After a turnover, the attacking direction switches. After a goal or when the ball goes out of play, the goalkeeper of the team that is awarded the ball restarts play.

For example, play rounds of a couple of minutes and rotate the pivots and markers. In the second phase of the drill, free the pivot to also move into the middle zone. Keep one player of the defending team in their own end zone.

Key questions
When should the pivot lay the ball off to the supporting player? From where should the supporting player arrive so that the marker is forced to make a choice?
