Description

Play toward one net, with a goaltender in the net. Players line up with pucks in two lines at the blue line, one on each side. The first player in line carries the puck with speed toward the net and takes a shot. If the puck doesn't go in, they continue to the net and try to jam home the rebound. The lines go in turns.

Vary the shot according to the players' level: wrist shot with a long and short drawback, snap shot, backhand shot, and slap shot.

In the second phase of the drill, the coach acts as a moving obstacle in front of the net: the player must get past the coach and release a quick shot.

Coaching key points
Shooting off speed Balance and pressure on the bottom hand during the shot Driving to the net for the rebound
Key questions
Why can a short drawback catch the goaltender off guard? Why is it worth continuing to the net after the shot?
