Description

Two cones are placed on the same line, a few meters apart. An outside player stands at each end, in line with the cones, with one of them holding the ball. The middle player is positioned between the cones.

The outside player passes to the middle player, who receives the ball on the move at the nearer cone, turns with the ball around the cone, and delivers a backhand sweep pass to the outside player at the other end. The middle player then moves to the other cone, receives a pass, and repeats the move in the other direction. The rotation continues without pauses.

Each round lasts about a minute, for example, after which the middle player is switched.

In the second phase of the drill, the outside players move sideways, which requires the middle player to look at the receiver before making the turn.

Coaching key points
Receiving the ball on the move Turning tightly around the cone with the ball Sweep pass after the turn
Key questions
Why should the turn be made close to the cone? Why is it beneficial to look at the receiver already before the turn?
