Description

Played in a half rink into one goal, with a goalkeeper in the net. The lines of shooters and wall players stand with balls at the bottom boards, level with the center line. The passer stands at the top boards, level with the center line.

The shooter makes a cross-ice pass to the passer and starts skating toward the goal. After a few meters, the shooter turns and plays a give-and-go with the wall player. The shooter then turns again toward the goal, receives a pass from the passer, and takes the first shot from further out. The shooter continues moving toward the front of the goal and receives a second pass from the wall player, taking a second shot from there. The goalkeeper resets position immediately after the first shot.

Rotation: the shooter moves to become the passer, the passer joins the line of wall players, and the wall player joins the line of shooters. Sides are switched every few minutes.

In the second phase of the drill, the wall player's pass comes hard to the front of the goal, and the shooter redirects it into the net.

Coaching key points
