Description

Played in a half rink into one goal, with a goalkeeper in the net. Two shooter lines are positioned at the same level, halfway between the center line and the goal, each slightly outside the goal area. On both sides of the goal, at the level of the goal line, there is a passer with a ball.

The first player in the lower line starts with a diagonal run to the front of the net. The upper passer makes a cross-ice pass into the shooter's stride and the shooter takes a shot. After that, the first player in the upper line does the same from the other side, with the pass given by the lower passer.

Rotation: the shooter goes to the spot of the passer who gave them the ball, and the passer goes to the back of the line on the same side.

In the second phase of the drill, the first players in both lines start at the same time on crossing diagonal runs, and the passer chooses which one to pass to.

Key questions
When do you need to start your run so that you arrive in front of the net at the same time as the pass? Why is a cross-ice pass difficult for the goalkeeper to save?
