Description

Full rink, goalkeeper in the right-hand goal. Two cones are placed on the right side of the center line, a few meters apart. The passer stands with a ball on the left side of the center line. The attacker and the backchecker (in blue) start in front of the right-hand goal. Play in groups of three players, with the others waiting their turn.

The attacker skates toward the cones while the backchecker follows him. On the way, the attacker looks over his shoulder twice to locate the passer. The passer plays the ball through the cones to the attacker, who receives the pass, goes around the nearer cone, and attacks the right-hand goal. The backchecker goes around the other cone and tries to catch up via backchecking to get in position before the shot.

Rotation: the attacker becomes the backchecker, the passer becomes the attacker, and the backchecker becomes the passer.

In the second phase of the drill, the backchecker does not need to go around the cone, giving the attacker less time.
