Description

Mark out an area with cones, for example half of the rink. All players have a ball and stand on one end line of the area. One player is the tagger in the middle of the area without a ball. On the coach's signal, players carry their ball across the area to the opposite end line. The tagger tries to knock the ball away with their stick. A player who loses their ball becomes a tagger in the next round, so there are more taggers added each round. The game continues until only one player remains.

A larger area makes it easier to get across, while a smaller area demands better ball control. Each round only takes a moment, and one game lasts a few minutes.

In the second phase of the drill, each player also has a tail, i.e. a bib tucked into the waistband of their shorts. The tagger must take both the ball and the tail. A player who loses their ball gets a new ball if their tail is still intact.
