Description

Played in an area of about 20 x 20 meters, for example a half of the rink, with a goal and a goalkeeper at each end of the area. The area is divided by cones into three lanes running from goal to goal: two side lanes and a middle lane. Play 3v3 so that each team has one player in each lane, and players may not leave their own lane.

A goal only counts if the ball has been passed at least once from a side lane to the middle lane. For example, the middle lane player passes to the side lane, moves forward in the middle lane into open space, receives the return pass, and takes a shot.

Play in shifts of a few minutes. If there are more players, the trios rotate between shifts.

In the second phase of the drill, players are allowed to move freely between lanes, but a goal still only counts if the ball has been passed from a side lane to the middle lane.

Coaching key points
Attack: movement without the ball to a passing position Switching the point of attack through the middle lane Passing from the side lane to the middle lane on the move
Key questions
Where should the middle lane player position himself when the ball is in the side lane? What happens if the middle lane player runs toward the goal without the ball? How do the defenders prevent the pass from one side lane to the other?
