Description

Mark out an area, for example a half-rink, and divide it with cones into two zones. Two teams of three players play, with each team having its own zone. The team in possession keeps the ball in its own zone by passing and carrying. The other team sends one player into that zone to win back the ball.

When the defender wins the ball, they immediately pass it into their own zone and return there themselves. After that, the roles switch: the team that lost the ball sends one player to defend in the same way. Play in periods of a few minutes.

In the second phase of the drill, there are two defenders, which means the team in possession has to move more to find passing lanes.

Coaching key points
Movement without the ball to a passing lane Communication: call for the ball when you want it Quick pass into your own zone after winning the ball
Key questions
Where should you move when the defender is right next to the ball carrier? Why is it better to pass immediately after winning the ball rather than carry it?
