2v2 to Four Goals
© CoachTruly.com- Description
Mark out an area of about 20 x 10 meters using cones. Place two goals at each end of the area, one on each side. Play 2v2 without goalkeepers, and either pair can score in any of the four goals. The ball carrier moves the ball to where there is space, and shoots at the goal that nobody is defending. After a goal is scored or the ball goes out of the playing area, play continues with a new ball from the coach, given to the pair that conceded.
If there aren't enough goals available, cone gates can be used as goals instead. Play for a few minutes at a time, then switch pairs. Running two playing areas side by side keeps more pairs active.
In the second phase of the drill, players may not shoot if a defender is directly between the ball carrier and the goal. In that case, the ball carrier must dribble past the defender or switch the play to the other goal.

- Key questions
- When is defending difficult with four goals in play? When can you carry the ball with one hand, and when do you need two? How can the ball carrier create more time for themselves?
