Description

Played in a half rink into one goal, with a goalkeeper in net. Players form three lines at the center line: Line A on the low side with balls, Line B in the middle, and Line C on the high side with balls.

A passes to B and takes off toward the goal. B passes the ball back into A's path and immediately transitions into a defender. A attacks 1v1 and tries to get a shot off. When the 1v1 ends in a shot or the defender wins the ball, C takes off with a ball, and A and C attack 2v1 against B. In the 2v1, a maximum of two passes are allowed before the shot.

Rotation: A moves to Line B, B moves to Line C, and C moves to Line A.

In the second phase of the drill, only one pass is allowed in the 2v1, and B is allowed to transition into defense immediately after passing.

Key questions
When should you pass in a 2v1, and when should you shoot yourself? Why is spacing needed between the attackers? What does the defender do if you carry the ball straight at them?
