1v1 Battles with Three Pairs
© CoachTruly.com- Description
Two goals are set up facing each other, for example across the width of half a rink, with goalkeepers in each goal. Players are divided into pairs, one red and one blue. Three pairs play at the same time, each pair with their own ball. Reds always attack the same goal and blues attack the opposite one.
Red starts with the ball: they challenge blue, use a feint, dribble past, and take a shot. If blue wins the ball, they attack their own goal. The pair plays with their own ball until a goal is scored or until the shift change. The other pairs are on the same playing area, so players must look around before challenging.
Play short shifts, for example around half a minute, to keep the tempo high. If there are more than three pairs, the next pairs rotate in during the change, and next time blue starts with the ball.
In the second phase of the drill, play with small goals or cone gates without goalkeepers, using several playing areas side by side so that each player gets more frequent battles.
