Fun Football

Drill description and rules
Area is a circle or square, some players with a ball and some without. The coach gives instructions on what kind of group to form, and players must follow the instruction. For example, "Four players, two balls!" The goal is to be able to form groups quickly; each task can also be given a time limit (e.g., 30s). Make it harder: More complex instructions, e.g., "Group with eight feet and two balls. Two hands on the ground!"
Quality factors
Observation, problem-solving, group formation, speed
Key questions
Was grouping successful, did anyone get left out, was the tempo maintained?
Duration

1v1 to Four Gate Goals

1 vs 1
© CoachTruly.com
Drill description and rules
The drill can be done from both the attacker's and defender's perspective, in which case the coaching points change. The coach passes the ball to a player in one of the lines, making that player the attacker, while the first player in the other line becomes the defender. The attacker tries to score by dribbling through one of the two gate goals on the other side. If the defender manages to steal the ball, they become the attacker aiming for the gate goals on the opposite side.
Quality factors
Attacking: Rhythm changes, deception, long and short touches, first touch Defending: Defensive stance, use of arms and body, pressing
Key questions
How do you approach the opponent? How do you get the ball? What do you do if you lose the ball?
Duration
15 min

Deceive the Catchers and Shoot

Scoring

Drill description and rules
Attackers start from the edges of the area near the cones and try to dribble out of the area through the sides closest to the goals without losing the ball. If an attacker manages to exit the area with the ball, they must shoot before crossing a marked line (e.g., indicated by cones). Catchers are not allowed to move outside the designated area. After each attempt (goal scored/shot taken or ball lost), players return to their starting cone to collect a new ball from the pile. The coach and/or support staff return the balls to the starting positions. Competitions: Individual competition: Which attacker scores the most goals (e.g., 2 minutes, 1 point per goal). Team competition: Which team scores the most goals.
Quality factors
Shooting, deception, trying until the end

Game: Ball Quickly into Play

Game
© CoachTruly.com
Drill description and rules
The coach places balls along the sidelines. The idea of the game's speed is that when the ball goes over the sideline, the team continuing play can take the nearest ball from any edge and continue the game immediately. You can additionally use, for example, a three-second rule when starting from the sidelines (make a decision before the coach counts to three).
Quality factors
Observation, speed of decision-making, situation awareness
Key questions
What's the quickest solution? How do you ensure your teammates know who has the quickest solution (communication!)?
Duration
15 min
